Elaine - Our MDI’m Elaine and the MD and Founder of Animal Friends Insurance.
I’ve also been riding and around horses all my life. I have my BHS Stage 1 & 2 exams and I used to love teaching at my local riding school where I started and ran the British Gas Equestrian Club. I have looked after and owned a number of horses from a New Forest pony to Danish and Dutch Warmbloods but my favourite has to be my old Cob “Smellie”.

I took him on when he had bad emphysema and I brought him back to full health with lots of tlc, he then went on to win a number of veteran events and was a real character, enjoying orangeade and Cornetto ice creams! Hopefully you’ll take time to visit our online Horse Community and tell us about the quirks of your four legged friends!

I have a lifelong passion for horses and have been riding since I was 2yrs old. I currently have two horses at the moment, Justine a 13yr old dark bay mare who is a 16.1hh Irish draft thoroughbred and a 17hh gelding called Ugg Bugg who is a 3ys old piebald again Irish draft thoroughbred who I think is going to turn out to be a gentle giant.

I competed at Affiliated and unaffiliated show jumping and at all levels and also competed Endurance and cross country over the years.

I have a selection of young stock from 7 months old and I have my old boy Jack who has done absolutely everything, from P.C + R.C to BSJA + BE, Sponsored rides to Showing!

Jack is a 15.2hh Coloured CobX that truly stands out from the crowd; I have owned him since he was a 4 year old. He’s now 14yrs and happily retired in the field at home due to injury. He participates in the odd hack now and then.

I have my BHS Stage 1 and 2 and my R.R.S and an ND in Horse Management, which I obtained whilst studying at Sparsholt College in Winchester.
I have worked with horses for many years, working in many different industries. I spent a year in racing and Point 2 Point, which was absolutely amazing. I have worked for 2 show jumpers, Charlotte Flack and Rosie Moss. I still ride for Rosie on a regular basis, backing and breaking young stock as well as riding at competitions.

I have worked at Hurstbourne Priors, a Dressage yard, and learnt everything I know from Beth Davies at Quob Stables in Durley, where I spent 5 years. Here I learnt my trade skills of how to back and break youngsters, producing young competition horses and the skills needed to work on a very busy riding school, livery yard and competition yard.

CarinaI’m Carina,
Horses are my passion. I have been around horses and have been riding since I was little, I couldn’t imagine my life without them. I have worked at Millfield Equestrian Centre and Liphook Equine Hospital. My parents live Germany and they own a 15.3 Piebald Mare Cob who gets spoilt rotten and is part of the family?

I loan a 17hh Chestnut Trakehner Mare and do a little of everything with her - couldn’t imagine my weekends without having a horse to look forward to riding.

So that was a little bit about me, I look forward to hearing all about your horses!

I have my own 16.2hh Trakehner who I compete at local show-jumping, cross-country and ODE’s. He can be a bit of a handful and gets me into all sorts of trouble but I wouldn't change him!
