Horse dies in 'hit and run'
A horse has been killed in a hit and run incident in Swansea, Wales.

The South Wales Evening Post reports that the equine - thought to be a local marsh pony - collided with the vehicle on Sunday (February 7th) night.

Police are now calling for information after the driver apparently left the animal dying, without stopping to check its condition.

They told the paper that it is likely that the vehicle - thought to be a dark green Hyundai - will be "substantially" damaged from the accident.

The problem of stray horses on the road has been a cause of contention recently in the West Midlands, with Dudley Council holding an emergency meeting with the police and public to address the issue after several drivers reported collisions or near-misses with equines seen wandering on the roadside.

The news could be a sobering reminder to equine enthusiasts to ensure they always have adequate horse insurance in place.
